Training
The training offered by Leeds SCITT is based on a tried-and-trusted model from Trinity & All Saints College - an OfSTED inspected Grade I provider.
There are three stages of training:
STAGE I (12 weeks) establishes the foundation of knowledge and understanding necessary for you to benefit from school-based training. This tuition comprises 12 hours per week of Subject Application in the lead school:
Stage I tuition also includes 6-10 hours per week at Trinity & All Saints College, Horsforth:
- Professional Studies (4 hours per week)
- Group Tutorials (2 hours per week)
- An optional unit in Catholic Education, Citizenship or ICT (2 hours per week)
- Support with basic literacy and ICT (if required)
STAGE II (16 weeks) is school-based and seeks to provide the basic skills necessary for you to function as a teacher.
STAGE III (8 weeks) is school-based (in a contrasting school to Stage II) where your skills will be refined and your ability to transfer competence from one school to another will be tested.
During Stages II and III you will receive in-school training and tutorials from subject and professional tutors, allowing you to reflect on your development and plan your next training steps. Regular visits from SCITT Tutors provide the vital link between Stage I Tuition and Stage II/III Classroom Performance.
